Abstract
aprendizaje, engageme... This research aims to resolve the elements that conceptualized the video game,
defining the theoretical concepts that help to establish a science and an own field of
study to determine what a video game is and to establish the characteristics that define
a gamer. To prove this, a methodology based on Delphi technique has been used,
whose panel of experts is composed of industry professionals and of researchers who
have used the video game as a source of study. From them, the characteristics that
define the video game have been analysed, in order to contribute a definition, as well
as the characteristics that a person must fulfil to be considered a gamer. The results
this article offers indicate that the video game concept are determined by: gameplay,
capacity of immersion, entertainment, interactivity, emotional connection, learning
curve, engagement, history/story, genres/formats, sound, rules/norms/objectives,
MDA model (Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics), audiovisual med...
