Objective: To compare nursing interventions for self-care actions performed by expert patients managing self-care, primarily selected in the scientific literature on standardized nursing language, with the classification of interventions established in the Nursing Interventions Classification (NIC). Methods: This descriptive, exploratory, cross-mapping study adopted a qualitative approach to compare the interventions listed in the scientific literature on self-care actions performed by expert patients with the taxonomy of standardized nursing interventions (NIC). The study was carried out using NIC (7th edition) as a technique for mapping non-standardized nursing language into standardized nursing language. In the first stage, 56 articles were selected for the cross-mapping process; these were applied to use the cross-mapping methodology. In the second stage, the expert patients’ self-care actions were mapped to NIC interventions. In the third stage, the interventions were classified according to the NIC taxonomy. Results: The interventions for self-care actions performed by expert patients were mapped to the NIC taxonomy. The interventions were classified into the following domains: physiological: basic, physiological: complex, behavioral, and safety. Conclusion: The self-care interventions performed by expert patients were mapped to the NIC taxonomy and classified into the domains of physiological: basic, physiological: complex, behavioral, and safety. The results of this study can contribute to the classification of nursing interventions for expert patients and to the development of care plans, favoring the promotion of self-care and the autonomy of patients in their health-disease process.es
