The aim of this study consists in analysing the legal category of the domini collettivi - which has been resumed recently by the Legislator with the Law 168/2017- through the analysis of the legal debate that affected the territories of the former papal provinces during the period between the end of the XIX century and the first decade of the XX century. This text will demonstrate how - thanks to the useful work of some jurists and especially to the Commissione di riforma delle Leggi abolitive degli usi civici e sull’ordinamento dei dominii collettivi (1904-1908) - the category of the domini collettivi developed and came back into vogue more than a century thanks to the Law 168/2017.es
