Semejanzas y diferencias de dos duelos televisivos: el caso de La sonrisa del pelícano versus Crónicas marcianas y El hormiguero contra La revuelta

Abstract

La disputa audiovisual entre El hormiguero y La revuelta parece no tener precedentes en nuestra historia televisiva. Sin embargo, si rebobinamos veintisiete años, encontramos un duelo por las audiencias aún más enconado y complejo de analizar: La sonrisa del pelícano contra Crónicas marcianas. El análisis de la gran rivalidad entre aquellos programas de finales de los 90, y las muchas derivadas empresariales y personales que tuvo, nos sirve para comprender mejor esta nueva competencia televisiva del siglo XXI que ha generado todo tipo de reacciones entre los productores del medio, los analistas audiovisuales y los propios televidentes. Se estudian los distintos formatos, sus prescriptores, los contenidos, cómo están programados y el perfil del público al que van dirigidos con la intención de responder a algunas preguntas. Si la competencia entre programas en la televisión es diaria y en todas las franjas, ¿por qué precisamente estos duelos televisivos se convierten en asuntos de trascendencia social e incluso política? ¿Qué factores son los que provocan ese enconamiento entre los programas y que suscitan tanta tensión?

The audiovisual dispute between El hormiguero and La revuelta seems to have no precedents in our television history. However, if we rewind 27 years, we find an even more bitter and complex duel for ratings to analyze: La sonrisa del pelícano against Crónicas marcianas. The analysis of the great rivalry between those programs of the late 90s, and the many business and personal derivatives it had, helps us to better understand this new television competition of the 21st century that is generating all kinds of reactions among the producers of the media, audiovisual analysts, and viewers themselves. The different formats, their prescribers, the contents, how they are programmed, and the profile of the public to which they are directed are analyzed with the intention of answering some questions. If the competition between programs on television is daily and in all time slots, why do precisely these television duels become matters of social and even political importance? What factors are the ones that cause this bitterness between the programs and that arouse so much tension?
